He listened as I asked, if I had said anything that was of heresy, and he said. "No".
I went on to quietly explain that that particular Scripture was referring to the false teachings and philosophy of Gnosticism, not of genuine enquiry. He could not accept it.
Of the New Testament books, around half of them refer to Gnosticism, how could he not understand this - someone who had minister to 40 years?
In order for a congregation to rightly divide the Word, they need to be taught all these sorts of things.
