Respectfully I asked him if there was anything in what I was teaching that was heretical in any way. He said, "No".
"There is a place for exploring Scripture in an honest way, and this Scripture is referring to you, the false teaching of Gnosticism not simple exploration." I said to him quietly, but it would not accept it.
Gnosticism had been so influential in the new Testament times and the new Testament writings, how could a pastor of 40 years experience not know this.
If a congregation is going to interpret their Bible well at all, they need to be taught these things by their Pastor.

Teach the basic facts of Bible and Church history and help prevent the church from repeating that history.
God has given us the responsibility to bring together the fragments of His Word and Plan into a picturesque mosaic that will equip His people to understand the Eternal Plan, the Bible and the Church.
It's not a difficult thing to accomplish, we just need to put in some study and prayer.
