He just would not accept it when I suggested that this Scripture was referring to the false teachings of Gnosticism and was in no way speaking of honest enquiry into Scripture.
I wondered how a preacher, who has laboured in the gospel 40 years could not understand about something that perhaps half the books of the new Testament refer to?
A Pastor needs to take the time to learn these kinds of things and teach the congregation so that the congregation can understand and interpret their Bible well.
