Recently I was preaching on the death and resurrection of Jesus, and a retired pastor - a strong preacher of the gospel, and he had been for 40 years, came up and reproved me smartly over some interesting points I made and he referred to 1 Tim 1.4 "nor to be taken up with with myths and never ending genealogies.. "
I then took the time to quietly ask him. "Did I say something heretical" he answered "No".
He just would not accept it when I suggested that this Scripture was referring to the false teachings of Gnosticism and was in no way speaking of honest enquiry into Scripture.
This was a pastor who had laboured in the gospel of 40 years and yet he did not understand about Gnosticism and the problems that Paul spoke of in this passage.
A congregation is not going to have much hope of understanding these things if the Pastor does not.

There are so many Pastors who will preach light weight messages that are shallow and the congregation will barely grow in the knowledge of the Bible and skills of interpretation.

Well, it's unfortunate for God, if his people are falling through the cracks ‘for a lack of knowledge’ (oracle), the most important thing is that we are ‘nice’ to each other.
Ok, the more 'relevant' christians become, to the world, the less relevant we christians are actually, to the world. :-(
