You would think that with 40 years experience, this pastor would have had some understanding of what Paul was referring to in this letter and the problem of Gnosticism.
A Pastor needs to take the time to learn these kinds of things and teach the congregation so that the congregation can understand and interpret their Bible well.

Sadly, so many Pastors preach shallow, light weight messages and the congregation barely grows in Bible knowledge and interpretative skills.
